players faced each other in what is expected to be the
first of two clashes between the two rivals.
In the first game, Haslam took the first lead at 3-1, but
some long rallies in favour of Slater, resulted in the
score being tied at 3-3. After another good rally, the
score remains at 3-3, and continues to 4-4. Slater then
edges ahead to 5-4, before extending the lead to reach
game ball at 8-4. The first game then went 9/4 to Slater.
In the 2nd game, Slater took an early lead at 3-0,
before Haslam picked up her first point at 1-3. Slater
stayed ahead however, reaching 5-2. Maintaining
control of the game, Slater went 2-0 ahead with a 9/3
win.
The 3rd game started with Slater once again taking the
lead at 3-1. She continued to control the rallies to go
6-1 ahead, but 3 consecutive errors by Slater
shortened the lead to 6-4. Haslam edged closer to
reach 5-6, but it wasn't enough as Slater eventually won
